What is creative coding?

Creative coding is programming used for expression — art, stories, games, and interactive experiences — rather than purely functional exercises. Students learn the same concepts (events, sequences, conditions, variables) while making something personal.

How is it different from a traditional coding class?

Traditional intro CS starts with technical puzzles that have one right answer. Creative coding starts with the student’s own idea and lets the concepts arrive in service of it — which is why it reaches students the puzzle-first approach loses.

What subjects can use creative coding?
