Children's Privacy Notice

About this notice

Elementari is a place where students learn to code by writing and building interactive stories, games, and apps. Keeping young creators safe is one of our most important jobs. This notice explains, in plain language, what information we collect from students, how we protect it, and the choices teachers and parents have. What we collect from students

We collect only what a student needs to use Elementari:

• A username and password. Student accounts do not require an email address or a real name.
• Optionally, a first name and last initial (added by a teacher) and a country, plus an avatar chosen from a set list.
• The projects a student creates — stories, games, apps, and more — including any text or audio they add.
• Basic technical data (like device and usage information) needed to run the service securely.

Please don't add personal contact details (full name, address, phone, email) into projects, comments, or profiles.

How we get permission

In a classroom. When a teacher or school creates student accounts, they provide consent on behalf of parents and guardians for those students to use Elementari — as allowed under COPPA for school use.

At home. If a child under 13 signs up outside of school, we ask for a parent or guardian's email and request their consent before the child's account is activated.

How we use it

We use a student's information only to run Elementari — to save their work, let them create and share within their class, and let teachers manage classrooms and give feedback. A student's comments are private to their classroom: students can only comment on projects within their own classroom, and people outside the classroom cannot view or post comments on students' projects.

We do not:

• show advertising to students;
• build advertising or marketing profiles of students;
• sell or rent student information; or
• use student data to target ads anywhere.

How we share it

We never sell student data. We only share the minimum necessary with trusted service providers who help us run Elementari, and they are contractually required to protect it. You can see them on our third-party services page. A student's projects stay private until a teacher approves them for publishing. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Keeping students safe

• Comments are private to the classroom — people outside the classroom can't view or post them, and students can only comment on projects within their own class.
• Student projects need teacher approval before they can be seen by the public.
• A "Report" link lets anyone flag inappropriate content for review.
• Student accounts can't upload custom profile images or edit profile details, to limit personal information.

Teacher & parent rights

Teachers and parents stay in control of a student's information. You can:

• review and correct a student's information through Account Settings;
• delete a student's information or account at any time;
• remove a student from a class; and
• email us at support@elementari.com for help with any of the above.

Deleting information

You can delete an account from the Account Settings page or by emailing support@elementari.com — this permanently removes that student's personal data, projects, and activity. We keep server logs for no more than 30 days.

The laws we follow

• COPPA — we collect only what's needed from children under 13, with school or parent consent.
• FERPA — we handle student education data on behalf of schools and only as permitted.
• SOPIPA — no targeted ads, no ad profiles, and no selling of student information.
• GDPR — for users in the EU/EEA, we follow privacy-by-design and data-minimization principles.

Changes to this notice

If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and let users know through the Site or by email. We'll never reduce the protections described here without notice.
